Maidstone Canoe club has a rich history of marathon competitions. The club has a racing team consisting of individuals paddling K1 or K2.
Regular training sessions are held at the club on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
In addition, the Club runs it's own Hasler race every year that attracts paddlers from many other clubs within the South East region, and sometimes further afield.
Members of the Club regularly compete in Hasler Competitions, the Essex Winter Series, the Waterside Series, and the Devizes to Westminster race. In addition, some members have competed in international competitions like the World Series
The location of the club on the river Medway lends itself to Marathon or Sprint paddling insofar as the river is wide and flat, giving ample opportunity to train over the required distances for marathon paddling, including practice at portaging if so desired.
The club owns a range of racing boats varying in stability. We also have Lightnings used for junior racing.
If you are a competent paddler insofar as you can paddle forward backward and turn, then please contact us here.
If you have never paddled previously then check out our beginners courses here.
To find out more about joining the race team please use the “Contact Us” form and select “Racing Enquiry”.
