 We sea kayak.

 We race.

 We are Maidstone Canoe Club.

 We mess about in boats.

 We run rivers.

Club Closed

In light of the latest advice from British Canoeing and the Environment Agency, we will have to abide by their guidance and cease all paddle sport activity until advised otherwise.
I would advise anybody thinking of ignoring this directive to reconsider as doing so would bring the club into disrepute.  I thank you for your cooperation in this matter.  Hopefully the current situation will pass sooner rather than later and we can all go back to enjoying our sport.  The most important thing is to stay safe and look after yourselves and your families and to keep up-to-date with current government advice.

Take care,
Brian Williams

Leeds Castle Sports Fest

This year Leeds Castle will not be running the Triathlon as in previous years. A Sports Fest weekend now takes it's place across 27th and 28th June, and we have been invited to be a part of it.

Maidstone Canoe club have been asked to provide safety cover for a Juniors Aquathon running from 14:00 - 16:00hrs on Saturday 27th June. Those who have previosly been involved may have provided cover for the junior races and know how much this is appreciated.

Outside the time of the race, we have been invited to run 'Come and try' sessions on the moat. This will give anyone taking part a good deal more paddling time than in previous years and will hopefully help to promote the club in a much greater way than we have been able to during the triathlons.

If you are able to help out on either, or both days, Please contact:

Tomorrow would have been Steve Irwin's 58th birthday.  Be careful out here tomorrow, people.

Show your appreciation

The Club AGM is a time to find out what's been happening, but also to show your appreciation for those who have made it happen!  Plus, updates on the new building, Chairman's Awards, and a look at the year ahead.  7pm, 13th March - see you there!

A great article from the Senior Instructor at Glenmore Lodge, George Fell, about paddling and fear - worth a read.  Not just for whitewater warriors - applicable to all disciplines.  Via Catch Up with Coaching from British Canoeing.

Ropes and Rescues

Good fun tonight at the whitewater safety and rescue refresher session - including the Throwbag Olympics!

Hampton court trip this Sunday

Due to the heavy rainfall that we have had in the last couple of days the Thames has been red bordered by the port of London authority. This trip will be cancelled and rearranged for another day depending on tides

Got 2 minutes?

Then please sign British Canoeing's Clear Access Clear Waters petition and help give canoeists and kayakers the same rights that walkers and climbers have enjoyed for years.  It will, literally, take two minutes and by signing you're increasing the chances that our voices will be heard.  The new government, with many new MPs and space to manoeuvre, is open to suggestions - but we need you to help!
