Lee Valley Whitewater Centre re-opens to the paddling public this Saturday after the excitement of the Olympics. Thereafter it looks like it's going to be open every Saturday & Sunday all day, and from 6pm on Friday nights.
It's an ideal opportunity for someone to organise another Club trip there, and also makes a great short-notice whitewater paddling trip if you've got a couple of hours free one weekend.
Details, dates, & online booking are here.
Unfortunately the Gower trip has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances, and will not be going ahead this weekend.
A quick reminder of what's going on this weekend:
- Gower Trip, to one of the best surfing beaches in Wales. NOW CANCELLED
- PyrahnaFest, at the Trweryn. Speak to Paul Hignall, firstname.lastname@example.org, if you're planning on going
- For everyone else, it's rubbish collection on Sunday! Just one more reason to go on a trip ...
Kent County Council is making money available for sports coaches within Kent. These grants can be used for BCU Coaching qualifications - please see the attached forms & guidances notes, and speak to someone in the Coaching Development Group (email@example.com) or on the Committee (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Applications close on September 28th.
Just a quick reminder that the Stour Trip is coming up in a few weeks - see the calendar here for details. Please mail Geoff, email@example.com, to reserve your place - the campsite must be booked in advance!
The Autumn newsletter has just been sent out by email - if you didn't get a copy of it, sign up using the box on the left-hand side of this page to make sure you get it next time! (Please contact the editor if you think you should have got a copy but didn't)
It's also available to download here, and there will be some paper copies at the Club - but please get it by email if you can!
There will be no come and try session at the club next Sunday as it is our annual club BBQ at Joss Bay. Non-club members are welcome to come but if you intend to paddle on the sea you will need to be competent to wear a spray deck. It will be possible to do your capsize drill with spray deck at Joss Bay but if you need a club boat please contact Geoff at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if it can be arranged, first come first served. Details of the Joss Bay BBQ are here.
