Rolling in the deep ...

... moat of Leeds Castle!

It's that time of year when Maidstone Canoe Club have been asked if we can provide safety cover for the Triathlon.
This will take place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June.
Both days will require an early start as we are usually on the water for 07:30.
This is a chance to see the prettiest castle in the world from a view point that few others have had.
We need around 8 boats each day but the more the merrier. If past years are anything to go by, there will be free tea and coffee all day with all the bananas and health snacks you can eat.
Paddlers should be confident on the water as you may need to provide assistance to swimmers until the main safety launch arrives.
If you can offer your time on one, either or both days, please contact mark.harris@maidstonecanoeclub.net

Better paddling

Improve technique.  Become more confident.  Learn new skills.

If you've been paddling for a little while and think there's more to learn, this is for you.  If you'd like to go on trips but are a bit nervous you won't keep up, then this is for you.  If you're thinking about trying something different - sea kayaking, touring trips, whitewater - this is for you.

The Explore Award is the next step from the beginner course (Discover award / 1*) and is focussed on gaining the skills and confidence you need to become an independent paddler.  We're running one in June, and it's free - sign up here!  You never know where it might take you ...

River Wye trip cut off date

If you are interested in doing the River Wye trip on the 7th 8th and 9th of June the cut-off date for those that want to go on this trip but not have not already booked on the trip is Monday 27th of may at 09:00

Philosophy corner

Most people would sooner die than think; in fact, they do so”. So said the philosopher Bertrand Russell, who would have been 147 years old tomorrow if he hadn’t died in 1970.   So, he should know a thing or two about dying and thinking, then. Something to ponder when you’re underneath your kayak at the pool session tomorrow

Friendly Face Needed

We could still use one or two people to say "hi" to new members and show them where the boats are kept, etc. on a Sunday morning or two.  A few people have stepped forward already, but we could definitely use a couple more!  Please use the Doodle poll to offer your help:
