Latest COVID-19 Information

This guidance is based on the UK Government's road map and on guidance from British Canoeing website. Like everybody else, they do not have any definite or confirmed dates. The government has stated that the steps out of lockdown are driven by data not dates. Here is a link to BC guidance  Latest BC Guidance

Step 1  8th to 29th March

We are currently at this stage 

Paddling allowed in pairs 

Minimal access to clubhouse for logging car reg 

Step 2  29th March until not before 12th April

Maximum of 6 paddlers allowed  using the website booking system and qr code or paper log.

Limited travel 

Use only car reg screen and toilets if essential, wear face mask indoors including boat store 

Club boats can be used but must be sanitised after use 

These arrangements should allow pre-planned paddles and courses to take place.

Step 3  12th April until  not before 17th May 

Maximum of 6 paddlers still using the website booking system and qr code.

Use of indoor facilities as on a previous lockdown in 2020 and outlined below.

Use of Changing Rooms

  • Limited numbers are now allowed in the changing rooms - maximum of 4 in the gents and 2 in the ladies
  • To control this, there is a board with tokens at the bottom of the stairs.  Please take the appropriate token when entering and return and sanitise it on leaving. There are wipes for this purpose.  If there are no tokens, please wait outside.
  • Please wear a mask whenever you are inside the building
  • Showers may not be used.
  • As previously, please do not change in the toilet, boat store, etc.

Use of Gym Equipment

  • Limited numbers are now allowed to use the gym equipment - maximum of 2
  • To control this, there is a board with tokens at the bottom of the stairs.  Please take the appropriate token when entering and return and sanitise it on leaving. There are wipes for this purpose.  If there are no tokens, please wait outside.
  • Please wear a mask whenever you are inside the building
  • Sanitise the equipment before and after use.  Please do not move the equipment out of the marked areas.

Use of Kitchen 

  • Limited numbers are now allowed to use the kitchen - maximum of 1
  • To control this, there is a board with tokens at the bottom of the stairs.  Please take the appropriate token when entering and return and sanitise it on leaving. There are wipes for this purpose.  If there are no tokens, please wait outside.
  • Please wear a mask whenever you are inside the building
  • You must use your own mug or disposable cup.  Please clean any touch points before and after use (e.g. taps, kettle, etc.)

Use of Upstairs Toilets

  • Upstairs toilets are now open for use.   
  • To control access, there is a board with tokens at the bottom of the stairs.  Please take the appropriate token when entering and return and sanitise it on leaving. There are wipes for this purpose.  If there are no tokens, please wait outside.

We will update this page if there are any substantial changes introduced by the government.
