The Maidstone Marathon is on Sunday 12th June. This is when our club hosts the race, which is part of the Hasler series. Although this is a racing event, everyone is welcome to attend, whether to cheer on our paddlers or to participate. If you can paddle to East Farleigh and back, you could take part. You can paddle in any boat, it can be your normal river runner (there is no time limit) and the club gets a point for everyone who finishes. If you haven’t been in a racing kayak yet, this is a great time to have a go – you may be surprised just how much fun they are! Just ask if you would like to try one.

This year, we are going to continue the barbecue after the event, and everyone is invited to this. If racing isn’t your thing, we also need people to help with organisation, cake baking, serving food and drink to the competitors, marshalling, directing people to the car park and many other roles. You can sign up to say that you can help on the whiteboard in the upstairs room in the club house or get in touch with me.

It won’t be possible to have our normal Sunday morning paddle on this day, but rather than paddling away, please consider supporting your club in whatever role you feel happy doing, and then stay to enjoy the club barbecue.
