Summer is here so the youngsters who think they have nothing to do amuse
themselves by throwing rocks and other things from the bridges at passing
canoeist
This week Maggie was hit by a log thrown by a group of yobs from one of the
bridges at the Millennium Park. She was bruised and badly shaken but it
could have been a lot worse.
Here is a list of possible do's and don'ts
Do:
Carry a mobile with you so you can contact the police if you are targeted,
the best advice at present is to call 999 if the event has only just
happened. If you report it later then the number to use is:
01795 419182
Which is for reporting incidents anywhere in Kent so there may be delays.
Note as much detail as you can about the time, location and a description of
the culprits.
If possible also carry a camera, you may get a chance
to get a useful picture.
If you receive an injury consider reporting to A&E, for your own wellbeing
and to get the details of your injury on record.
When you get back to the club please fill in an incident report form,
available from the notice board opposite the gents changing room.
Don't
Go paddling alone
Get involved with any retaliation, although very tempting you may well
finish up being prosecuted by the police, the offenders are generally too
young to be similarly treated - you may not be.
If anybody has any thoughts or ideas on how we can best combat this growing
menace please let me know and I will circulate them here:
