HPP trip - Saturday 15th July to Sunday 16th July 2017

Several people have asked if the club could have a trip to the National White Water Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, so here it is!
We will travel up on the Saturday morning, paddle the course, camp at the campsite on Saturday night and maybe have a barbecue or go to the pub, then paddle on the Sunday.
The course is mostly Grade 3 and, I think, just a little harder than the Legacy course, but more fun! There is an easier section around the back of the course, part way down, which is probably grade two. We are happy to take paddlers new to moving water on this section for a session in the morning and a session in the afternoon on each day. You would need to be confident in wearing a deck and capsizing. There is even a lake there, so there is something for everyone.
It appears to cost £10 for a whole day, maybe £7.50 for students, but I may be reading the wrong price - it seems very cheap compared with Lee Valley.
Richard will be taking his van so will be able to transport some kayaks. Bill and I will be taking our van, so will be able to take some people.
Please let me know if you are interested. I will check with the campsite as to whether we can book a group pitch or whether we book individually.
Any questions, just ask.

Leeds Castle Triathlon 24th/25th June 2017

Leeds Castle Triathlon safety boaters and club stand helpers for 24th & 25th June.

Please enter the grounds via the Broomfield entrance. You will be directed to a point near-ish to the moat where you can unload your kayak and take it down to the water's edge.

Ben from Leeds Castle, will do a briefing at 7am for Maidstone Canoe Club, and then a briefing for the competitors at 7.15am. We need to be ready for a 7.30am start both days. The swimmers will set off in six waves on the Saturday, when they have to swim one lap of the moat, and two waves on the Sunday, when they have to swim two laps of the moat.

There will  be a marshal tent with refreshments and snacks for you to help yourselves to. We will also have our club stand. Bill and I will take the club gazebo to Leeds Castle on Friday evening to set it up.
The swim recce is on Thursday 22nd June and starts at 7pm so you will obviously need to be there a bit before this. I am waiting to hear which entrance you should use.
Thank you all for your help. I hope you all enjoy the weekend.
