Christmas Party Tickets Here!

We'll be having our annual Christmas Party at the Clubhouse again this year, on Saturday December 9th from 7:30pm.  Tickets are just a fiver, which is frankly the best deal you'll get this festive season!  Canapes and Christmas-themed decor provided; please bring your own drinks.

Tickets are now available here - also available on the door, but please do book in advance if you can so we've got some idea of numbers!

Leeds Castle Triathlon 24th/25th June 2017

Leeds Castle Triathlon safety boaters and club stand helpers for 24th & 25th June.

Please enter the grounds via the Broomfield entrance. You will be directed to a point near-ish to the moat where you can unload your kayak and take it down to the water's edge.

Ben from Leeds Castle, will do a briefing at 7am for Maidstone Canoe Club, and then a briefing for the competitors at 7.15am. We need to be ready for a 7.30am start both days. The swimmers will set off in six waves on the Saturday, when they have to swim one lap of the moat, and two waves on the Sunday, when they have to swim two laps of the moat.

There will  be a marshal tent with refreshments and snacks for you to help yourselves to. We will also have our club stand. Bill and I will take the club gazebo to Leeds Castle on Friday evening to set it up.
The swim recce is on Thursday 22nd June and starts at 7pm so you will obviously need to be there a bit before this. I am waiting to hear which entrance you should use.
Thank you all for your help. I hope you all enjoy the weekend.

The following courses still have spaces:

New Junior Paddler Procedure - Please Read

The Committee has had a think about how best to look after our junior members during Club paddles.  Please take a look at the below - we'd really appreciate everyone's help in making this work smoothly.

  • for every Club paddle there will be a Responsible Paddler who will be looking after juniors
  • all Junior Members will be given new membership cards with space for emergency contact details on the reverse.
  • when dropping Junior Members off, parents must find one of our Responsible Paddlers and check that they are prepared to look after their child for that session.  A list of Responsible Paddlers (DBS checked, competent adults) will be posted in the Club.  Please do not just "drop and go" without actually speaking to the person looking after your child!
  • Junior Members must give their membership cards to the adult they are paddling with at the beginning of the session.  These can then be returned at the end of the session when the Junior is collected, so we know who is still at the Club.
  • Please pick up your child promptly, and make sure you tell the Responsible Paddler that you've taken them home!

Full details are in these pages.

As always, please speak to someone on the Committee if you've got questions or concerns with any of this, or drop the Secretary an email.

Summer Soltice Soon - Special Splashy Session!

... try saying that three times quickly!  Underwater.  At the pool session tomorrow!

Leeds Castle Triathlon safety cover and club stand

Thank you to everyone who has offered to help. So far I have:
Saturday: Paul Hignell, Jon Willis, Tim Jones and Seth, Stewart Burt Wheadon, Geoff Licence
Sunday: Richard Caine, Paul Hignell, Jez Massy, William Norman and myself.
Please let me know if you are able to help and I have left you off the list. We desperately need more support! We could do with a few more people for each day. We need to be there for a briefing at 7am both days and I think the race will be over by 10am. You would be free to leave earlier than this as the swim in the moat is the first part of the race (as long as you park in the right place to get out.)
We also need a few people to man a stand for the morning to promote the club. You do not need to be a paddler for this, so if you don't feel up to paddling on the moat, this is a great way to get involved with this inspiring event.
Finally, we also need a few people for a swim recce on the evening of Thursday 22nd June at 7pm. Again, please let me know if you are available to help with this.
On race day there will be a marshal tent with refreshments and snacks which you will be welcome to help yourselves to. This will be the fourth time the club has supported the race and it is an excellent opportunity to show off what the club has to offer.
