The sun is shining, and everyone‘s out paddling! The newsletter deadline is coming up in a few weeks, so it would be great to hear about what you’ve been up to over the last couple of months. The newsletter only works because of you lovely people, so please jot something down and send it over! Trips, gear reviews, thoughts, poetry - all welcome!
If you can't make the Banff Mountain Film Festival in Tunbridge Wells tomorrow, check out the Reel Paddling Film Festival hosted by Kent Canoes! May 6th, at the Marlin Site in Yalding. Demo boats and archery also available!
To enable members to try out Stand Up Paddle-boarding (SUP), I will be running taster sessions on some Sunday mornings. The club currently has two SUPs so numbers will be limited to 2 initially, but the purchase of additional SUPs is being considered.
The first sessions will be on 15th April, 13th May and 27th May. Sessions will be 1½ hours long; 9:30-11:00 and 11:00-12:30. So, if you’d like to have a go then at SUP please drop me an email at email@example.com with preferred date/start-time. Sessions are offered on a first-come, first served-basis.
At the moment, these sessions are only for club members and are free, but it’s hoped that later we will be able to offer introductory courses along the lines of the beginner kayak/canoe courses.
Due to current water temperature you would need to wear appropriate clothing (e.g. full length wetsuit or cag and dry trousers).
Unless you are running the London Marathon you should be paddling the Mole, details on the calendar!
World Health Day is supported by the WHO! Pete Townsend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwhistle and Keith Moon want you to get healthy, apparently. A bit surprising, but I guess that's what happens when rock stars get old. Do your bit - get healthy by coming to the pool session!
